Omaha teen found guilty of murder in Westroads Mall shooting

(Omaha, NE) -- An Omaha teen faces 20 years to life in prison after a jury convicted him of second degree murder Friday.

17-year-old Makhi Woolridge-Jones was tried as an adult, and found guilty of the shooting in April of 2021 at the Westroads Mall. He was 16 at the time of the shooting.

Police say Woolridge-Jones chased 21-year-old Trequez Swift through the mall as Swift ran away, shooting him twice in the back. Swift died. A woman who was also shot survived.

Woolridge-Jones will be sentenced in November.
