Annual Omaha Area First Responders 'Blue Mass' Comes Up

The 15th Annual Police and Fire "Blue Mass" is Thursday, October 13th, at 10 a.m. at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, 153rd and Pacific Streets.

The "Blue Mass" traces its origin to 1934 when the uniforms worn by many first responders were blue.

The "Blue Mass" honors Saint Michael the Archangel, the patron saint of those employed in the public safety field, and Saint Florian, the patron saint of those in fire and rescue.

The "Blue Mass" pays tribute to those who continue to serve and memorializes those who have given their lives in the line of duty.
