Northern Iowa Attorney Accused Of Sexually Abusing Step-Grandchildren

(Undated) -- A northern Iowa man is accused of sexually abusing several of his step-grand children over several years. Seventy-three-year-old Daniel Weichmann is facing charges in Polk, Dallas, and Franklin counties. Weichmann was an attorney in Franklin County. Due to a conflict of interest, the Polk County Attorney's Office is serving as a special prosecutor.

Officers arrested Weichmann Friday, October 28th, 2022 at his residence in Hampton, Iowa, after a police report filed in Ankeny October 25th.

Wiechmann has been charged with one count of Sexual Abuse in the 3rd degree (class C Felony), two counts of Assault with Intent to Commit Sexual Abuse (Aggravated Misdemeanor), one count of Indecent Contact with a Child (Aggravated Misdemeanor) and one count of Indecent Exposure (Serious Misdemeanor). 

Wiechmann is currently being held at the Dallas County Jail on a $5000 cash bond and a detainer from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office regarding warrants currently on file related to Polk County charges.
