City Council Invests In New Omaha Police Armored Vehicle

The Omaha Police Department is getting a new armored vehicle.

The City Council approves a nearly 350-thousand dollar contract with Lenco Industries for the vehicle .

Deputy Omaha Police Chief Scott Gray told the council the purchase will replace their current armored vehicle, which is in need of replacement after years of service.

Opponents of the expenditure say it militarizes a police force.

The new vehicle should be available to Omaha Police in the next year or so.
