Sun Country to offer nonstop service from Omaha to Minneapolis/St. Paul

(Omaha, NE) -- Omaha's Eppley Airfield welcomes a new airline carrier.

On Tuesday, the Omaha Airport Authority announced that Minneapolis-based Sun Country Airlines will become Eppley Airfield’s eighth airline when they begin twice weekly service between Omaha and Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport starting Friday, May 26, 2023. OAA says flights will operate on Mondays and Fridays.

The schedule for the new service is as follows:

  • Minneapolis to Omaha
    • Depart: 4:05 PM
    • Arrive: 5:15 PM
  • Omaha to Minneapolis
    • Depart: 6:10 PM
    • Arrive: 7:23 PM

Sun Country Airlines describes itself as, "a new breed of hybrid low-cost air carrier, whose mission is to connect guests to their favorite people and places, to create lifelong memories and transformative experiences." OAA says Sun Country will fly this new route with a Boeing 737-800 aircraft seating 186 passengers. The flights will operate during the peak summer travel period between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day. “The Omaha Airport Authority is pleased that Sun Country Airlines has chosen to add Omaha to its expanding route network with this new nonstop service. Sun Country’s growth into Omaha is the reflection of a strong community that supports local air service,” said Dave Roth, Chief Executive Officer for the Omaha Airport Authority.
