Omaha Airport Expects Thanksgiving Week Passenger Surge

Omaha's Eppley Airport is expected to be a busy place this week as Thanksgiving brings in the Holiday Season.

"We're not quite to the pre-pandemic levels, but we're pretty close, and it definitely feels busy again here flying though the airport," Omaha Airport Authority Chief Information & Development Officer Steve McCoy tells KFAB Radio News.

McCoy says they are estimating about 172-thousand travelers to fly in and out of Eppley Field during this Thanksgiving period based on airline schedules, and he says passengers will want to arrive early.

"That'll allow folks time to find their parking here at the airport; it'll allow time for check-in, and also allow time for that security screening process."

McCoy says the Thanksgiving travel period is actually defined by "Airlines 4 America" as the Friday before Thanksgiving until the Tuesday after.
