Fort Dodge Police Searching For Baby's Remains

(Fort Dodge, IA) -- Fort Dodge Police are looking for the body of a baby, born last week. Police say Webster County Dispatch received a call on November 22nd that a woman had given birth at home. The baby died and its body was moved from the home. Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to the discovery of the remains.

Police say investigators are following up on leads, using electronic records, and talking to witnesses as well as conducting searches. Detectives are looking for video evidence. Anyone who has video surveillance within the area of Central Avenue and E. Kenyon Road and South 7th Street and South 12th Street is asked to contact law enforcement.

The Fort Dodge Police Department is being assisted by the Webster County Sheriff’s Office, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations Major Crimes Unit, the Webster County Attorney’s Office, the Fort Dodge Fire Department, Webster County Conservation, City of Fort Dodge Street Department, Webster County Emergency Management, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations Crime Scene Team Crime Lab and the Iowa SAR (search and rescue) K9 unit.
