(Lincoln, NE) -- Investigators believe the fatal shooting of a Lincoln man last week, was road rage related.

On Tuesday, 23 year old Karsen Rezac made his first court appearance in the December 23rd shooting death of 38 year old Kupo Mleya. Bond was set at $250,000 for Rezac, who is facing charges of second degree murder and use of a weapon to commit a felony.

Lincoln Police say just before 12:30 Friday morning, officers were called to the area of South 20th and Washington Street for a disturbance. Police say the caller to 911 reported hearing gunshots and possibly a car crash. LPD says arriving officers located an SUV that had been involved in a crash and the driver, Mleya, suffering from gunshot wounds. Investigators say Lincoln Police and Lincoln Fire & Rescue provided life-saving efforts, but Mleya succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. Rezac was arrested the next day after investigators used license plate information to locate him.

Court documents provided on Tuesday show that police believe that Rezac and Mleya had been involved in a car accident, and that following the crash Rezac shot Mleya multiple times. Rezac is slated to go to court again in January.

A GoFundMe account has been set up for Mleya's burial.
