(Undated) -- Iowa is lifting its ban on live bird exhibitions.

The Iowa Department of Agriculture canceled all live bird showings and sales in November due to the bird flu.

The ban was lifted after the state went 30 days without any outbreaks. The Department of Ag says 15.5 million birds were destroyed over the last year in Iowa.

Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack recommends that people with backyard birds should keep them from mingling with wild birds.
