(Gretna, NE) -- A Colorado teen is arrested following a high speed chase on Interstate 80 near Gretna.
The Nebraska State Patrol says just before 1:00 Tuesday morning, a trooper spotted a Subaru WRX speeding at over 100 miles per hour on I-80 near Gretna. The State Patrol says the trooper attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the driver refused and increased their speed. The NSP says the trooper then initiated a pursuit.
Investigators say the Subaru continued westbound on I-80, with speeds reaching 150 miles per hour. The State Patrol says after about 10 miles, the Subaru’s engine failed, and the vehicle came a stop. The driver, an 18-year-old male from Colorado, was taken into custody for willful reckless driving and flight to avoid arrest. The NSP says the entire pursuit lasted less than five minutes.
