(Des Moines, IA) -- More than $440,000 will go toward clearing the backlog of Iowa Veterans Trust Fund grants. The program was temporarily suspended due to insufficient funds.

In a statement, Governor Kim Reynolds said:

“I’m pleased that this funding will finally provide veterans the financial assistance they were approved to receive. We owe Iowa’s veterans a debt of gratitude and we must ensure that the services we offer them are available when needed.”

The funding comes from the American Rescue Plan Act.

The Iowa Department of Veteran Affairs will begin processing payments immediately. Veterans who were approved for the grants between March 3, 2021, and November 3, 2022, do not need to take any additional action.
