(Des Moines, IA) -- Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird is joining 23 other states in a lawsuit against the Environmental Protection Agency.

Bird says the EPA has too much control of land in Iowa due to a new rule under the Waters of the United States.

She claims the federal government is trying to regulate about 97 percent of Iowa land and waterways.

The lawsuit says the new rule sets unrealistic standards making conservation impossible and would make farming or owning land more expensive.
