Lincoln 5th grader brings loaded gun to school

(Lincoln, NE) -- A Lincoln 5th grader is facing legal repercussions after bringing a loaded gun to school.

Lincoln Public Schools says the student brought a handgun to Prescott Elementary School and showed it to a classmate. LPS says the student then made concerning comments about violence to the student they showed the gun to.

LPS says after being shown the gun, the student reported what they had seen to a teacher, who then notified school administrators. The gun was found in the student's backpack. Lincoln Police were called to the school, who then confirmed the gun was loaded in the student's bag.
