(Rock Island County, IA) -- The woman convicted of killing Adrienne Reynolds will not be resentenced.

The Illinois Third District Appellate Court is upholding the decisions made by the circuit court in Rock Island.

Sarah Kolb's defense team asked the appellate court to reduce her sentence claiming the judge didn't consider factors such as her age, competence, and family background when sentencing.

Kolb is one of two people convicted of murdering 16-year-old Adrienne Reynolds in 2005.

Kolb was sentenced to 53 years in prison when she was 16 years old.

Her legal team is also arguing the sentence is cruel and unusual under the Eighth Amendment and conflicts with an Illinois Supreme Court ruling that any sentence over 40 years for a juvenile is a life sentence.

Court documents say the resentencing decision was made as Kolb's legal team didn't show evidence that the original judge in the case violated her Eighth Amendment rights.
