Fans Check Out Pre-NCAA Basketball Practices In Des Moines

(Des Moines, IA) -- A lot basketball fans have been checking out the pre-NCAA Men's Basketball Tourney practices in Des Moines. Teams get about a half hour on court at Wells Fargo Arena today (Wednesday). Practices sessions are free and open to the public and continue until 5 p.m. Parking is free but availability may vary. Concessions, including official NCAA t-shirts, are available inside the arena. The games in Des Moines start tomorrow (Thursday).

WHO Radio caught up with fans who said they enjoyed the free opportunity to see the players go thru drills and practice their shots.

Practice schedule:

11 to 11:40 a.m. Howard

  • 11:45 to 12:25 p.m. Illinois
  • 12:30 to 1:10 p.m. Kansas
  • 1:15 to 1:55 p.m. Arkansas
  • 2 to 2:40 p.m. Texas
  • 2:45 to 3:25 p.m. Texas A&M
  • 3:30 to 4:10 p.m. Colgate
  • 4:15 to 4:55 p.m. Penn State


The game schedule on Thursday, March 16th:

  • 12:50 p.m.: No. 16 Howard vs. No. 1 Kansas
  • 3:20 p.m.: No. 9 Illinois vs. No. 8 Arkansas
  • 6:15 p.m.: No. 15 Colgate vs. No. 2 Texas
  • 8:45 p.m.: No. 10 Penn State vs. No. 7 Texas A&M
