(Galesburg, IL) -- Murder charges are being dropped against a woman after a body was found decomposing in a storage unit in Marquon.

Marcy Oglesby of Maquon was arrested after discovering the body and was initially charged with concealment of death.

Additional charges were filed in February, but most of the charges were dropped Thursday by a Knox County judge during a motion hearing.

The victim was confirmed as former Maquon Police Chief Richerd "Rick" Young.

Police responded to the storage unit in October of 2022 after complaints of a suspicious smell.

Oglesby claimed the smell came from a dead opossum in the unit but admitted to the body after police came across a large box she refused to open.

Oglesby is still in custody and has a pretrial hearing on April 3.
