Iowa Women's Basketball Team Headed To Final Four

University of Iowa

(Seattle, Washington) -- The Iowa women's basketball team is going to the Final Four, for the second time in program history. The Hawkeyes defeated Louisville Sunday night 97-83, clinching a spot in the N-C-double-A Tournament semifinals. Iowa plays again Friday against either Maryland or South Carolina-the defending champions in Dallas.

During the game against Louisville standout Caitlin Clark made history, becoming the first player to have a 40-point, triple-double in the women's NCAA Tourney. Before yesterday no player had ever recorded a 30-point triple-double. Clark also became the first player to ever record 900 points and 300 assists in a single season.

Head Coach Lisa Bluder is making her first Final Four appearance in her career after taking over the Hawkeyes in 2000.

The University of Iowa will open Carver-Hawkeye Arena Friday night, for the Iowa Women's N-C-Double-A basketball game. Doors open an hour before the 8:30 p.m. tipoff. Fans can park free in surrounding lots. The Hawkeye Fan Shop and concessions will be available. This is the first time the Hawkeyes have been in the Final Four since 1993.

The game will air on AM 600 WMT in Cedar Rapids, AM 1420 WOC in Davenport, and on AM 1040 WHO in Des Moines.
