(Iowa) -- The Iowa Department of Insurance & Financial Services is holding a series of events across the state warning Iowans about scammers.
Doug Ommen, Iowa Insurance Commissioner, says scams target not just older Iowans, but Iowans of any age. He says scammers try to build trust with victims, then eventually ask for money. The free educational events are designed to help Iowans identify scams. Stops include:
- Wednesday, May 8th
- Marshalltown
- Waterloo
- Dubuque
- Thursday, May 9th
- Cedar Rapids
- Johnston
The full schedule is available on the Iowa Fraud Fighters website.
