(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- The Cedar Rapids School District has no plans to arm it's teachers... yet.
Board President Cindy Garlock speaking at last night's District meeting, says that, so far, no board members or administrators have approached her with an interest in arming staff.
A new state law allows school district's the option to arm their staff.
The law also requires the largest school districts to employ School Resource Officers (SRO) at their high schools.
Cedar Rapids Schools already has a deal with the Cedar Rapids Police to supply SROs at all five high schools.
