(Des Moines, IA) -- Charter schools in Iowa got a boost from a comprehensive bill signed into law by Governor Kim Reynolds on Friday.

One of the highlights of the bill is $7-million in ARPA monies that will fund a grant program to help charter schools with infrastructure costs.

Laura Cannon, principal of Horizon Science Academy in Des Moines, tells Iowa's News Now that they plan to apply for a grant for playground renovations, and an improvements to their STEM lab.

The bill also allows charters schools to buy or lease unused school buildings around the state.
