Prices at the pump as we start the work week leading up to the Memorial Day Holiday Weekend, the traditional "unofficial" start to the U.S. summer travel season as the school year winds down and commencement exercises continue.
Triple A reports the average price in Nebraska Monday morning for a gallon of regular is 3.26, down three cents from a week ago.
Prices are lower in the Omaha Metro.
In Iowa, the average price for a gallon of regular Monday morning is at 3.19, down five cents from last week.
The national average is 3.59, down two cents from last Monday.
Triple A forecasts more than 3.6 million people in their West North Central Region, which includes Nebraska and Iowa, will travel 50 miles or more this Memorial Day Holiday Weekend as the American Summer Vacation Season gets underway.
That’s 136,000 more holiday travelers than 2023, but 186,000 less than the overall travel record, which was set in 2005.
