East Moline Officer-Involved Shooting Victim Identified

(East Moline, IL) -- The man who was shot by police in East Moline last week has died.

Eighty year-old Eugene Mewes was fatally wounded after police had a confrontation with the armed man Friday.

The fatal shooting happened at Hometown Harbor Apartments on 49th Avenue.

Lieutenant Dustin Edkin, and Officer Garrett Kistner have been place on administrative leave until an investigation is complete.

Police say it wasn't their first time responding to an incident involving the victim.
