How Did The Quad Cities Miss Tuesday's Major Storm Effects And Damage?

(Davenport, IA) -- Most of the Quad Cities was spared violent storms that spawned tornadoes that killed several people, and caused widespread damage in other parts of Iowa Tuesday. How did we get so fortunate?

National Weather Service Meteorologist Tim Gross says by the time the line of storms reached eastern Iowa, it had broken up into a series of smaller storms that passed around us.

A social club in Maquoketa, north of the Quad Cities, was destroyed when it's roof was blown off by high winds.

One person died in Corning, Iowa. Investigators haven't yet released the number of people killed in Greenfield, where many buildings were destroyed.
