Greenfield, Iowa Volunteers: We're Making Progress, Still Much To Do

(Greenfield, Iowa) -- Brandon Sickels and many others are still hard at work in Greenfield, Iowa, cleaning up after last week's deadly tornado. The E-F-4 twister, packing 175-185 mile per hour winds May 21st, claimed 4 lives and destroyed more than 150-homes in the Adair County community.

Sickels says there's been progress in the clean-up effort, but there is still much to do. He speculates it will take weeks, perhaps months to get rid of all the debris. He says volunteers are being accepted. Those wishing to volunteer asked to check-in at the Iowa DOT maintenance garage at 2313 Iowa Highway 92 in Greenfield.

A number of disaster response are also on scene, including the American Red Cross, Salvation Army, and Samaritan's Purse to name a few.

The City of Greenfield is also accepting donations for disaster relief.

The Adair County Health System has launched a GoFundMe campaign to help health care staff and residents of the community.

The local hospital was damaged by the storm, health care providers have set up a clinic and urgent care in the Nodaway Valley Elementary School.
