(Iowa) -- The number of tornadoes so far in Iowa this year is up to 82.
That number comes after at least 16 tornadoes were confirmed after Friday, May 24th's derecho that swept west to east across the state. That particular storm produced winds of 60-75 miles an hour and caused damage to trees and buildings.
On average, Iowa sees 50 tornadoes per year, most of which happen from April through July.
