Atkins City Council Approves Plan for New Fire Station

(Atkins, IA) -- The Atkins City Council approves a plan for a new fire station to replace the one destroyed during the 2020 derecho.

On Tuesday, the city council approved a plan for a new fire station, estimated to cost more than 5 million dollars. Part of the funding will come from insurance proceeds as well as from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

The previous Atkins Fire Station was destroyed in the August 10th, 2020 derecho.
