(Bettendorf, IA) -- Phone services for the city of Bettendorf have been restored.
City departments lost phone services as part of an outage that disabled 911 service for landline phone customers throughout eastern and central Iowa Thursday.
A water main break at a Lumen Technologies facility in downtown Des Moines caused the outage. Crews there continue to work to restore service to affected customers.
City officials ask residents not to make test calls to 911. That's jamming up lines for people with real emergencies.
