(Lincoln, NE) -- Nebraska voters will see have six ballot questions in the November General Election, including two measures to legalize medical marijuana. However an investigation is underway after signatures of dead people were found on the marijauna petitions. Any irregular signatures were not counted.
"Our counties in a 40 day period of time were required to verify up to 600-thousand signatures." Nebraska Secretary of State Robert Evnan said.
"Our counties did just a remarkable job" He said.
Charges are being brought by the Nebraska Attorney General's Office in the case of the fraudulent signatures.
There were 21 petition pages that contained misspellings, fraudulent signatures, and signatures of dead people, all related to the two Medical Marijuana measures. But, those measures still make the November ballot.
"The signatures that are called into question by the Attorney General's Office were not sufficient to reduce the number of valid signatures below the threshholds required to qualify for the ballot, so I certified them for the ballot." Evnan said.
The six measures that will appear on the November ballot include two opposing abortion measures, a partial repeal of the private education scholarship, paid sick leave, and the two medical marijuana measures.
