One Man Killed, Two Men Injured In Northern Iowa Crash

(Hamilton Co, IA) -- A northern Iowa man is dead and two other men are hurt after Hamilton County crash. The Iowa State Patrol says an S-U-V, a pick-up, and a Semi crashed on Highway 69 around 6:30 this (Friday) morning near Blairsburg. The driver of the SUV, 27-year-old Cole Lantz of Williams, was killed. Two other men in the pick-up truck, 51-year-old Carlos Vielman Castillo of Postville and 28-year-old Jilmer Vielman Monroy were injured and taken to the hospital in Webster City.

The Iowa State Patrol says Lantz was driving a Jeep Renegade northbound on Highway 69 and tried to pass another northbound vehicle. Castillo, who was driving a Dodge Ram truck, was southbound and hit the Jeep head on while Lantz was trying to pass. The Jeep and the pick-up came to rest in the roadway. The ISP says a southbound semi, driven by Justin Norton, swerved to avoid a crash, but hit the pick-up while traveling thru debris. The ISP says a 4th vehicle was also involved, and truck the Jeep.
