(Des Moines, IA) -- It was a record-breaking year for the Great Iowa Treasure Hunt. State Treasurer Roby Smith says almost 3$31 million of unclaimed cash was returned back to rightful owners. That's about $6.5 million more than the previous record set in 2020. He says the Great Iowa Treasure Hunt is the only certified source of unclaimed property in the state, since the funds are turned over to the Treasurer’s Office directly.
