(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- The leader of both Camp Courageous and the Camp Courageous Foundation is making a big move.
"We're really excited, Charlie Becker is not planning on retiring, however, I will be transitioning from the CEO of Camp Courageous to CEO of the Camp Courageous Foundation," Becker said.
He has served in the role for over 45 years. The camp says they've recruited help from a Human Resources firm in finding a replacement.
"So Camp Courageous is in the process right now of looking for a CEO," Becker said, "and we're hoping to have somebody selected by the end of the year."
Camp Courageous, located in Monticello, is a non-profit that has been working with Newsradio 600 WMT for the past five decades. During Becker's time as CEO, the Camp has grown from five buildings to 35 buildings, from 40 acres to 400 acres, and now has nearly 10,000 campers.
The camp serves children and individuals (along with families of those) with disabilities. You can read more about Becker's retirement at their website.
