The Nebraska State Patrol says it was recently awarded re-accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies after a lengthy review process.
The Patrol says it received its re-accreditation in late 2024 following a process that included a self-assessment of NSP policies and procedures, in-depth comparison of NSP’s operations to CALEA’s public safety standards, and a complete assessment by CALEA evaluators.
NSP had to prove compliance with approximately 500 CALEA standards for law enforcement agencies.
The Nebraska State Patrol says it was one of the first state law enforcement agencies in the country to receive CALEA accreditation in 1989 and has been awarded re-accreditation numerous times since.
CALEA accreditation lasts for four years with annual assessments during that time.
