(Iowa City, IA) -- A historic Iowa City learning campus is one step closer to having a new life.

A Bettendorf company has plans to turn 400-acres of the ACT Campus, home of the company that administers the college admissions test for six decades, into seniors housing, retail and office space.

Iowa City City Council is approving the rezoning for the first 48-and-a-half acres of the project.

The campus is located just off North Dodge Road south of Interstate 80.

The not-for-profit college test organization was purchased by Los Angeles-based Nexus Capital Management last year.
