Cedar Rapids Reviews Policy After Federal Deportation Raids

(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- The Cedar Rapids School District is reviewing policy as ICE ramps up deportations across the country.

In a letter to families, the District says their policy prohibits law enforcement from talking to students during the school day.

The District says the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act, and a 1982 U.S. Supreme Court ruling state that no student should be denied public education regardless of their immigration status.
