(Louisa County, IA) -- Opponents looking to reverse the approval of a casino license for Cedar Rapids have a court date.

Riverside Casino has filed a petition claiming the Iowa Racing & Gaming Commission didn't have legal authority to issue the license earlier this month.

Riverside contends that the wording in a 2021 referendum vote was misleading and therefore the approval is invalid.

A hearing on that filing is now scheduled for April 8th in Louisa County.

Developers of the casino have already started construction with an eye on a New Year's Eve 2026 opening date.
