(Des Moines, IA) -- Two-thirds of Iowans think food insecurity is hurting their community.

Those are the results of a new survey by the Iowa Food Bank Association (IFBA) released to coincide with today's Hunger-Free Day On The Hill event.

The study of over 600 Iowans also reported that just over half of respondents felt the state wasn't doing enough to help Iowans deal with food insecurity.

The IFBA says it will be at the Iowa State Capitol today to lobby for expansion of the Choose Iowa program that allows Iowa food banks to buy locally sourced food.

And to increase funding for Double Up Food Bucks, which allows low-income residents to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
