(Chicago, IL) -- A Davenport man accused of fatally shooting an East Moline woman in a Chicago hotel last month is facing murder charges.
Chicago Police say 35 year-old Demetris Shorter turned himself in Friday.
Investigators say Shorter checked into a hotel with 32 year-old Kenliada Porter on February 21st.
The following day officers say they found Porter in the room suffering from multiple gunshot wounds after Shorter shot a security guard in the hotel lobby before fleeing.
Police say the security guard survived. Porter died hours later.
Court documents show Shorter has an earlier aggravated unlawful use of a weapon case pending in Rock Island County.
