Des Moines Police are releasing the bodycam footage from the officer-involved fatal shooting of 36-year-old Brandon Mitchell last month.
Police were attempting to locate Mitchell, who had multiple felony arrest warrants, at a home on the east side of Des Moines on January 24th.
Both Attorney General Brenna Bird and Polk County Attorney Kimberly Graham ruled the officers were justified in shooting Mitchell.
In the video, officers are able to locate Mitchell in a closet at a home in the 1300 block of East Tiffin Avenue. He tells police he has a gun, leading officers to order him to show his hands. A crash is then heard, before police open fire on the closet Mitchell is inside, killing him.
