Man Facing Charges After Police Heard Gunfire in Des Moines Wednesday

(Des Moines, IA) -- One person is under arrest facing charges after officers from the Des Moines Police Department heard gunfire while responding to a hit and run crash Wednesday afternoon.

Police say the officers were at the scene of a hit and run crash on Des Moines' east side when they heard two bursts gunfire and saw a vehicle speed by. They were able to catch up to the vehicle and pull the driver over. Investigators say inside the vehicle, officers found a pistol, an open container of alcohol, and THC vapes. A further investigation identified 21 year-old Corbin Jones as the alleged shooter. He's now facing charges.

No one was hurt during the shooting, and police say no property was damaged.
