(Iowa) -- A new national study of mid-sized cities ranks Des Moines in the top five for women in the tech industry.
The annual Women in Tech study from CoworkingCafe based on data from the U.S. Government ranks Des Moines the number 4 mid-sized metro for women in tech. That's up from 9th place in last year's study. The study finds that female tech workers in the Des Moines metro earn the 10th highest median income when compared to other similarly-sized cities, with an average salary of $80,394 dollars.
The Des Moines metro also 30 tech positions per 1,000 jobs, which is the 5th highest among mid-sized metros. 25% of the Des Moines area's unemployment rate for female workers is 2%, the 4th lowest among similarly-sized metro areas.
