(Des Moines, IA) — The Iowa Department of Education could soon be required to recognize schools that go above and beyond to support military families. It's called the Purple Star Program. It supports transitioning students and military families through trained staff, student-led programs, and online resources. Iowa is one of seven states that has not yet approved the program through legislation, but a bill heading to Governor Kim Reynolds' desk could change that.
