(Lincoln, NE) -- A bill that would lift the ban on SNAP benefits for those convicted of drug felonies advanced in the Nebraska Legislature.

Legislative Bill 319 would allow those convicted of drug-related felonies to access Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. Under current Nebraska law, those convicted of drug felonies cannot access SNAP benefits unless they have completed a licensed treatment program. The bill, proposed by Senator Rountree, advanced with a vote of 32 to 5.
