Sentencing Today For Man Guilty Of Attempted Murder Of Cedar Rapids Police

(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- The man who pleaded guilty to charges of attempted murder of three Cedar Rapids Police officers during a February standoff will be sentenced today.

Christopher Kern of Grimes, Iowa held police at bay overnight in a downtown apartment for 11-hours when they tried to serve him with an arrest warrant for stealing a dog he had given up to a Des Moines area shelter.

The sentencing is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
