(Des Moines, IA) -- A new track and field event will make its debut at Drake University on Wednesday.
The first-ever World Shot Put Series meet, an event created by world record holder and 3x Olympic champion Ryan Crouser, will debut at the Drake Fieldhouse and feature two categories of competitors. The open field category will include collegiate athletes, and the professional field will feature some of the world's best competitors in the sport, both from the U.S. and abroad. The event is free and open to the public.
Crouser will be inducted into the Drake Relays Hall of Fame at the meet Wednesday evening.
