UI Healthcare Settles Two Malpractice Lawsuits For $3.5M

(Iowa City, IA) -- University of Iowa Healthcare is settling two malpractice lawsuits.

A total of $3.5-million is being paid to the family of a Dubuque man who died in the operating room during surgery on a broken leg, and a 60 year-old woman from Argyle who suffered leg damage after an I.V. leak during plastic surgery.

The Cedar Rapids Gazette reports that UI Physicians medical malpractice insurance will cover the cost of the settlements.

No taxpayer money will be spent.
