(Rock Island, IL) -- A bill that would protect jobs at the Rock Island Arsenal is heading for the Senate floor in a couple of weeks.
Part of The National Defense Authorization Act would block funding for a planned merger of the munitions and logistics commands on the island without Congressional approval.
The Arsenal workers union has been told the plan could eliminate up to 400 jobs.
The bill has passed out of committee with bipartisan support.
