(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- Residents in Coralville, Iowa City, and North Liberty will see some property tax relief after voters approved a 1-percent increase in the Local Option Sales Tax at the polls yesterday. State law mandates half the increase be used for property tax relief.

Jo Ann Beer was re-elected as mayor of Fairfax while two incumbents were defeated on Fairfax Council.

In Iowa City, Bruce Teague, Megan Alter, and Shawn Harmsen were re-elected to City Council. Council will decide if Teague will continue as mayor.
