(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- Crime in Cedar Rapids continues to go down
The latest data from the Cedar Rapids Police show reports of vehicle thefts and shots fired are significantly below both last year's numbers and the five-year average.
CRPD October crime numbers show 34 shots-fired events so far this year — a 23% drop from last year, and a 63% decline versus the five-year average.
Thefts of, and from vehicles are also down over the same time periods.
Thefts of vehicles are down 18% from 2024 and 44% below the five-year average.
Thefts from vehicles dropped 8% from last year and are 27% lower than the five-year trend.
