(Marion, IA) -- Some Marion residents are raising concerns about a fee being charged to use a new amenity at a public park.
The new Ice Loop opens at Central Plaza in City Square Saturday, but it will cost $5 for adults, and $3 for children to get in during operating hours.
City officials say the fees are needed to cover the costs of staff for skate rentals, running the music and firepits, and driving the Zamboni to clean the ice.
The city says the ice can be used for free during non-operating hours.
