(Des Moines, IA) -- A Des Moines teen accidentally shot himself in the leg while at the hospital.
Police say the 14-year-old’s mother brought him with her to Broadlawns Medical Center for her scheduled doctors appointment.
When she was taken to the care area, she gave her son her purse, which contained a loaded handgun.
The boy accidently fired the gun and shot himself in the leg.
He is now recovering.
